Chips, deep stains, old dental work and other imperfections on one or more of the teeth in your smile can leave you feeling self-conscious in many social situations. Many people wanting cosmetic restoration of their smile will reach out to Jason M. Peterson, DDS to explore their options.
If you have one or two teeth with visible imperfections, we might recommend restoring them with a cosmetic crown made from porcelain or porcelain fused to metal.
After examining the tooth to make sure it is healthy, your Jason M. Peterson, DDS dentist will form an abutment from each tooth in question. This is done by using a drill to remove the majority of the enamel layer of the tooth.
Then we will form an impression of each abutment and the surrounding teeth. This will be sent to a dental lab, that will craft a custom permanent crown for you. In the meantime, the dentist will protect the abutment by cementing a hard plastic temporary crown in place.
Once the dental lab has completed your crown, we will call you in for a short follow up appointment. The temporary crown is removed and your new permanent crown is cemented into place.
Here at Jason M. Peterson, DDS we can also perform crown lengthening, if your crowns have eroded at all after years of wear and tear.
If you have one or more teeth in your smile with noticeable imperfections, you should call Jason M. Peterson, DDS at 208.524.3400 to explore your cosmetic restoration options.
