If you want a stronger and healthier smile this year, then our Jason M. Peterson, DDS dental team has some tips and suggestions for you! We encourage you to do the following things on a regular basis:
Brush properly
To perform a thorough and proper brushing job, you need to brush at least twice a day for two minutes each time. Make sure you brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. As you scrub, thoroughly clean each tooth with a circular motion. Do your best to scrub the front and the back surfaces of each tooth. When you reach the gumline, be gentle and soft.
Floss daily
Flossing is just as important as brushing, so make sure you floss at least once a day. It does not matter what time you floss or which product you use to do so—just make sure you clean the crevices of your smile daily. This will help you remove the food particles and plaque that reside between your teeth.
Chew sugarless gum
If you chew sugarless gum throughout the day, your mouth will produce more and more saliva, which will help you prevent tooth decay. As you chew, the saliva will constantly wash your smile and it will neutralize the acids in your mouth. So, make sure you chew sugarless gum for at least 20 minutes after each meal.
Have a healthy diet
Healthy diets help your smile as well as your entire body. If you eat healthy foods, your teeth will get stronger and healthier each day. Some teeth-healthy foods include fresh fruits and veggies. It’s also important to avoid eating non-healthy foods, like sugary treats and candy.
Visit your dentist
Visiting your dentist every six months is the best thing you can do for your teeth and gums. The cleaning routine and examination will help you prevent tooth decay and gum disease and will help you fix any dental problems you are suffering with. So, make sure you keep up with your dental cleaning appointments this year so you can have a strong and healthy smile.
