You’ve probably heard of gum disease, and you may even know what you should do to prevent the problem. For instance, you probably know that if you keep up your oral care, you’ll be much more likely to avoid gum disease altogether. However, as you probably know, gum disease can lead to a number of serious issues.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to keep to reverse gum disease, especially if you are able to identify the issue early. Sadly, the longer you wait, the more severe your gum disease can become. However, you can usually reverse gum disease in its early stages by brushing and flossing at home. Still, if your gum disease is more advanced, you may need medication.

However, another option you may need to consider is gingival surgery, which is sometimes known as gum grafting. Though this treatment is rare, it can be useful if you infections and bacteria have damaged your gums.

During gingival surgery, a periodontist will essentially replace unhealthy gums with healthier gums. Please note that you will probably need pain medication after this treatment. Similarly, you’ll need to keep your mouth as clean as possible if this is the option you choose.

Fortunately, if you have gum disease, you probably won’t need gum grafts. In fact, our team will usually be able to provide you with a more common solution.
